Lovely Long Weekend

I hope you had a fantastic weekend- I know that I did! The weather here was beautiful, so we spent most of it with all of the doors and windows open to let the breezes pass through. I've gotten really excited about gardening recently, so I spent some time prepping a new raised bed in the backyard (which I hope to share once it's finished!) and shopping for plants, as well as majorly cutting back some overgrown bushes in the front of our house. It's made such a big difference and I can't wait until it's cool enough to plant lots of beautiful bulbs for the spring!

I'm starting a new part-time job today, so posts may be a bit sparse as I get adjusted to my new schedule (I'm super excited, but having a few jobs can be a bit confusing!).

Good luck with this shortened work week- I hope that it's wonderful and goes by quickly!

Have an Above-Average Weekend!

Happy Friday!

What are you all up to this weekend? I'm not sure of our plans, just hoping that it rains some more to help get rid of this heat and humidity (noticing a pattern to today's posts? :).

Whatever you do, I hope it's as lovely and fun as possible!

Wonderful Weekend

So... how was your weekend?

Mine was pretty fantastic. We spent Friday night at the movies seeing 'The Kids are Alright', which was amazing. I highly recommend it!

Saturday we took a day trip to two nearby towns. Our first stop was Saxapahaw (which is even more fun to say with a Southern accent), where we had lunch at the fantastic general store.

I love that they're very locally minded and place such an emphasis on supporting the local economy and protecting the environment.

It also doesn't hurt that they have fantastic food. K got a fried chicken sandwich, while I focused my efforts on the grilled vegetable sandwich (above) with olive tapenade and local goal cheese. Magical.

We then took back country roads to Hillsborough, which has lots of historic buildings and boatloads of character. We wandered around and stopped into some cute stores, including a chocolate shop and a lovely vintage store. My favorite place was the local bookstore, which had this adorable bathtub couch in the children's section:

We then stopped at Home Depot to pick out paint samples for a few projects we have in the works...
Here are some of my picks, plus my new nail color (Essie's Playa del Platinum).

It was a great day, made even more fun because we were able to explore new places without having to travel very far.

Some other fun parts of the weekend?

Having it cool off enough to turn off the AC and open the windows and doors!

Making homemade pizza (with a bit of help from Trader Joe's 99 cent dough!) with our own pesto, roasted eggplant, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and parmesan.

With my new favorite, a granny smith apple cider. So good.

Also included in our weekend? A night on the town, a triple birthday party, some cleaning and cooking, and sleeping in late.

It was pretty glorious and I'm already making plans for the next one to get me through the week!

What about you? Did you do anything fun or exciting?

p.s. Apologies for the poor photo quality. My camera's doing this fun thing where it doesn't want to upload to my computer easily, so it'll be mostly iphone pics for awhile...

Have an Above-Average Weekend!

I can't believe Friday is already here! Even though it's been absolutely sweltering out here (why did I leave the West coast?), I'll be heading even further South to visit two of my wonderful friends and sorority sisters in Charleston. I can't wait to catch up with them, explore the city some more, and partake in what they refer to as BBB- beach, bars, and brunch. Personally, I'm more interested in the first and last of those, but I'm just generally excited for the weekend?

What about you all? Any fun plans? Whatever you're up to, I hope the next two days are wonderful and relaxing!

Have an Above-Average Weekend!

As you read this, I'm likely to be flying somewhere over the country on my way to Oregon! I'll be meeting up with K's family for a week-long vacation that I hope will be filled with lots of hiking, relaxation, and cooking, with some rafting and horseback riding thrown in for good measure!

There are a few posts scheduled for next week, since I'm purposely leaving my computer behind (!), so feel free to stop by until I get back next Friday.

What are you up to this weekend?

Have an Above-Average (Long) Weekend!

Many apologies for the radio silence here lately. Between graduating (finally!), hosting family and friends, applying for jobs, and moving, my plate has been overflowing! I'm spending the weekend organizing around the new place, cleaning the old apartment, and hanging out with K and friends. I'll be back on Tuesday, hopefully relaxed and refreshed, with some new posts for you!

In the meantime, have a fantastic (and restful!) Memorial Day weekend!

Have an Above-Average Weekend!

I can't believe the week has already flown by! To celebrate being officially done with the semester, K and I are taking off to the Outer Banks bright and early tomorrow morning to camp by the beach until Monday. I'm hoping for lots of campfires, bicycle rides, seafood, and swimming. It sounds so dreamy and I really cannot wait!

I hope you all have an equally wonderful weekend!

Have an Above-Average Weekend!

With the weather getting even warmer out here, I've been getting increasingly excited about the weekends.

My plans for the weekend are to spend time with friends (since our classes have just finished!), tend to our little herb garden, and make use of all of the greens (seriously, five different kinds) we got in this week's farm share box.

Oh, and repaint the bedroom! Since K and I are moving in together (temporarily for now, since I'm not sure where I'll find a job!), I've been given the okay to redecorate this space a bit. I've enlisted the help of some friends to spruce up the walls a bit, with crisp white trim and this shade from Behr.

My plan for the room is to have everything be fairly neutral with a few (very bright!) pops of color with the help of some accessories and furniture. I'll be sure to post updates once some progress has been made!

If I get extra ambitious, I may also refinish our nightstands, but that project may be overlooked so I can enjoy some rest and relaxation!
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
